You’ve no doubt passed Siam Sunset a hundred times and just assumed it was a closed down portion of the adjoining America’s Best Value Inn. But it’s very much open and home to the best traditional Thai breakfast in town. Open every day at 6am, this is where you go to eat some porridge and Thai donuts, sip on some instant coffee with angry old men, and feel like you are nowhere near Southern California.

Shrimp, fish sauce, tamarind, eggs, rice noodles, tofu, and bean sprouts are all common in pad thai. We simplified our version. Since we rarely need (or can find) tamarind, we skipped it in the sauce. To make up for it's sourness, we added lime juice. Also in the sauce: brown sugar, fish sauce, soy sauce, and a little bit of cayenne pepper. Fish sauce smells pretty funky, but we promise you it's necessary. Halal Thai Street Food in Bangkok - AMAZING THAI CURRY and ROTI Food Tour!
With an elegant yet inviting atmosphere, Buddha Ruksa has been a popular destination for dining in West Seattle for a good ten years. "Bags of Gold" are a great way to start; these fried dumplings of sorts are filled with shrimp, chicken, shiitake mushrooms, and water chestnuts. Other menu highlights include crispy garlic chicken and crispy duck, available six different ways. You don't do Pad Thai in this Thai restaurant (Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown)

Mango Tree, Thai Restaurant London serving Authentic Thai Cuisine or Thai Food
One of the traditional takeout things about chicken stir fries is how they have chicken that looks like it was almost shaved, similar to Mongolian Beef in restaurants. The trick to this is to freeze the chicken for about one hour. Once you do you can very easily slice the chicken very thinly against the grain. Since the slices are so thin you’ll find that even though it was in the freezer, it will come back to a good cooking temperature very quickly. Conor Maynard Cooking At YumYum Thai Restaurant
This unassuming, cozy restaurant in Mount Baker is a mainstay for low-priced (and cash-only) Thai food. The pad thai has dried shrimp (as it should) and the green papaya salad has real heat (as it should). That salad is a perfect accompaniment to BBQ chicken and a side of sticky rice that comes in a cute bamboo basket. Bonus: Lao dishes on the menu.

Luv2Eat has a funny name, but Chef Fern and Pla aren’t fooling around at the dials. Expect serious heat from the two ladies from Phuket, whether it’s in their sour tom yum noodle soups or their famous Phuket-style blue crab curry. Authentic (and, as a result, pretty gutsy) and a serious threat to Jitlada’s Southern Thai cuisine dominance, if a fan of spicy Thai food.

This East Dallas legend, more than 20 years old, is one of Dallas’ best options for reliably great Thai food. Definitely order the satay, which is grilled to perfection at the table, and a piping hot bowl of tom kha gai, extra spicy. Pad see ew, pad thai, and Thai barbecue chicken are all excellent entree choices, and don’t sleep on the sticky rice & mango dessert. Toy Hunting at Indoor Playground with Toys from Toys”R”Us
Nahm was the first Thai eatery ever awarded a Michelin Star, a prestigious honor which it held for nearly a decade before losing last year. I’m not sure why, since I ate at Nahm again two months ago and it was as good and well run as ever, but Michelin can be quite fickle. Not that it matters - you should not go to Nahm for this increasingly unimportant distinction, but rather because it is both excellent and truly unique. Pandan Leaf
We appreciate a restaurant that calls it like it is, and at Spicy BBQ, expect to get Thai-style BBQ and expect to get it real spicy. But this six-table strip mall spot at Normandie and Santa Monica has much more than just a few excellent plates of BBQ pork. The spicy jackfruit salad, the pork patties, the chili dips, and a khao soi we think about late at night when the lights go out make this colorful, tiny spot great.
