We had six or so meals among the four of us, including curry, Thai fried rice, stir fries, and we also had appetizers (egg rolls and pot stickers). We were so happy to eat such high quality food, and all four of us were delighted to find this restaurant in this small town we are visiting on our vacation. The owner/operator was working hard and cares a lot about making her business excellent - it shows! A little place, none too fancy. I would highly recommend the yellow curry and the Thai basil dinner (a fried rice mix). Would return! Best Thai Restaurant: Result - Gordon Ramsay
A mild, tamer twist on Tom Yum, this iconic soup infuses fiery chilies, thinly sliced young galangal, crushed shallots, stalks of lemongrass and tender strips of chicken. However unlike its more watery cousin, lashings of coconut milk soften its spicy blow. Topped off with fresh lime leaves, it's a sweet-smelling concoction, both creamy and compelling. But I don’t need convincing because I’ve had Thompson’s cooking several times, and nowhere with as profound results as in London. The thing that makes Nahm a must-eat for me when visiting is not just the quality of the food, it is the singularity of the dinner experience. For almost anyone visiting for the first time, it will be completely unlike anything they have ever tried - anything. While you can order a la carte, the best option, and the one that makes Nahm so special, is the “Traditional Thai Meal,” in which guests receive a house appetizer and then choose one dish each from several categories: starter, soup, salad, relish, curry, and main which is a stir fried, braised or steamed dish. The full slate is served family-style for sharing. Since Nahm is a fine dining restaurant, all of this wondrous food is accompanied by first rate service, presentation and the option for sommelier-chosen wine pairings, a great choice given that relatively few visitors will have the expertise to select appropriate wines for such varied and intense flavors.
What is it that makes Ruen Pair so great? Many of its dishes aren’t one-of-a-kind standouts, and most Thai expats wouldn’t exactly call it the most authentic Thai experience they’ve ever encountered (provided, the restaurants that fit the bill in that department vastly vary). Perhaps, then, it’s the fact that their turnip omelette marries just the right hint of sweetness with savory in a way that makes it required ordering, or how the fragrant star anise and cinnamon-powered steam from a bowl of boat noodles naturally elicits a Pavlovian response.

The reason I brought Lao Table to San Francisco and the bay area here is because I believe in the power of family. What I believe in life is to shared and this type of food , you don’t see much here in state. It’s only local people as a Thai culture especially family you know, sit down, enjoy the food and have fun using your hands. You don’t care who you are eating with, but you do care about is the conversation over the table. That is family Yum Yum
A prawn dish of gung pao nahm phrik mapraow, was a first course with an unexpected kick to it at the end. A green papaya salad with beans, peanuts and tomatoes was a refreshing touch between the spicier courses. To finish, salted palm sugar ice cream may not sound like anything special but this is one of the best desserts in the city, in both Thai and non-Thai restaurants. Fantastic, authentic food, great service and ambience, Som Saa deserves all its accolades and repeat visits from all Thai food lovers. Square’s restaurant POS solution offers an in-person and restaurant ordering system all in one. So basically, all the orders come into the same place so that you can manage them concurrently. This can be a positive feature for restaurants that do a good mix of carryout and dine-in business. However, the company charges a transaction fee rather than a larger monthly fee, so it may not be as cost effective for restaurants that make a fair amount in monthly sales. We have the kids for a few more days this week before they go back to their family, and I honestly thought I wouldn’t see the inside of a kitchen for the rest of the time that they were with us, but somehow, during these last few days, I’ve army-crawled my way back into the kitchen to fight something delicious into existence which feels like a major personal and professional win. I even found it in me to eat this Rainbow Vegetarian Pad Thai for dinner the other night while feeding the kids some leftover pizza and apples. YES I KNOW. I rose to that level of Adult Eating Adult Food. Week 2

"Tasty and comforting," is how Ann Redding, co-owner of NYC's Uncle Boons restaurant describes this street food dish. Also often listed as lard na or lad na, it's comprised of wide rice noodles in a gravy—usually with Chinese broccoli, Redding adds. If you can find it on your takeout menu, order it! Just don't forget Redding's rule: "Must request the chiles soaked in vinegar to season [it] with. Otherwise it's just not right." Yum Yum Sab - Oktober 2016
Most vegetarians would be pretty angry if they found out after eating that their meal contained fish sauce. I would personally consider it on par with using chicken/beef broth. I’ve seen a recipe for vegetarian fish sauce (http://veganmiam.com/recipes/vegan-fish-sauce) and I’ve personally just swapped it out for low sodium soy sauce or a touch of miso in other recipes. Sixty percent of the time, we want Thai takeout all the time. Thai food masterfully walks a delicate line between salty, spicy, sour, and sweet, perhaps no better demonstrated than in pad Thai. Undeniably the most ubiquitous and oft-ordered dish in American-Thai restaurants, it's perfection. From the slight funk of fish sauce to the peanutty topping to the just-a-little-chewy noodles to the fresh squeeze of lime juice brightening it all up… sorry, what were we saying? Oh, right. Pad Thai. While it's an American favorite, there are a lot of other sleeper hits waiting to be discovered on your local Thai takeout menu. We asked the chefs at our favorite Thai restaurants to ID the best dishes you're not ordering…yet. Best Thai Restaurant: Nahm Jim - Gordon Ramsay

Morsels of fresh chicken. Cherry-sized eggplants. Tender bamboo shoots. Sprigs of Coriander. Generous handfuls of sweet basil. These humble elements form the body of this seminal curry. But how does it get so gloriously green you ask? Oh, that'll be the spoons of green curry paste that's stirred furiously into hot creamy coconut milk. Served alongside a bowl of fragrant Thai rice, Gaeng Keow Kan Gai is the extreme opposite.

One of the most prominent flavors of Thai food is the inclusion of fish sauce. Though fish sauce can seem like a scary ingredient it is actually similar to eating anchovies in caesar dressing. You can taste a flavor of umami (a savory/salty flavor) but you don’t actually taste a “fishy” taste from it. Many people who make chicken pad thai would never even guess that there was seafood in the dish based on the fish sauce. Best Thai Restaurant: Nahm Jim - Gordon Ramsay
What do they taste like? Shirataki noodles are actually taste-less and will take on the flavors of the dish. Texture-wise is where they vary, as they are more rubbery than your traditional noodles. And tbh, we’re not fans of using them outside the realms of Asian cuisine. But given that the rice noodles used in pad Thai are also on the chewy-side, shirataki noodles do work quite well here. And in our book, definitely worth a try. Thai Curry Competition - Gordon Ramsay

This unassuming, cozy restaurant in Mount Baker is a mainstay for low-priced (and cash-only) Thai food. The pad thai has dried shrimp (as it should) and the green papaya salad has real heat (as it should). That salad is a perfect accompaniment to BBQ chicken and a side of sticky rice that comes in a cute bamboo basket. Bonus: Lao dishes on the menu. AMAZING THAI FOOD IN LONDON - Thai Silk Restaurant
From Cape Town to Khao San Road, the default international Thai dish! Dropped in a searing hot wok, fistfuls of small, thin or wide noodles (you choose) do a steamy minute-long dance alongside crunchy beansprouts, onion and egg, before disembarking for the nearest plate. A truly interactive eating experience, half its fun (and flavour) lies in then using a quartet of accompanying condiments - fish sauce, sugar, chilli powder and finely ground peanuts - to wake it from its slumbers.

Book a table on the phone or ask for a table by saying “We’d like a table for 5, please.” This will let the waiter know how many people to expect. The waiter might ask “How many people are in your party?” In this question ‘party’ means ‘group’ not ‘celebration’. If you’re in a country where people are allowed to smoke in restaurants, the waiter might ask if you’d like to sit in the smoking or non-smoking section. If you’re in a hot country, the waiter may ask if you’d prefer to sit indoors or outdoors. Make it clear exactly where you want to sit for a perfect meal.
But for as many sugarcoated Thai restaurants operating in the U.S., there’s an appreciable number of spots doing it right—especially in immigrant-heavy cities like Houston, where Asia Market encourages diners to personally adjust their dishes with condiments like pickled peppers, fish sauce, and chili sauce (nam prik). L.A., meanwhile, supports both NIGHT + MARKET, which puts a hipster spin on Thai street food, and Thai Town’s Jitlada, where chef Tui Sungkamee makes traditional fiery southern dishes.

Amidst all the chaos of Grand Central Market, you might miss Sticky Rice at first. But inside this food stall in the center of the market is a fantastic secret. And that secret is the best beef panang curry in the city. The rest of the menu is pretty great too, but something in that curry speaks to us unlike anything else. It’s sweet, savory, and a little spicy, and the braised beef is so tender that chewing is optional. ENTERTAINMENT
Thailand is composed of four regions with very distinct cultures, dialects, and, of course, food. Nam prik noom is famous in Northern Thailand, where fresh veggies and young chilis are plentiful. This roasted, pounded chili dip -- composed of garlic, shallots, cilantro, fish sauce, lime juice, and green chilis -- has a smoky, garlicky, charred flavor and makes for a wonderful centerpiece in a northern Thai meal. Don’t be fooled by the ingredients -- nam prik noom is a lot less spicy than other regional Thai chili dips and complements sticky rice, fresh and steamed veggies, boiled eggs, and (my personal favorite) pork rinds perfectly. Don’t be afraid to eat sticky rice with your hands. Grab handful and mop up some sauce with it. Somtum Der is a northern-Thai restaurant that leans toward authenticity, so you might as well. And don’t hesitate to get the fried chicken. (It’s Thai, and it’s good.) Papaya salad is another no-brainer at this East Village stand-by, and there are eight different ones to choose from. If you want to impress your date, get the one with fermented fish sauce. If your date doesn’t like it, well, don’t make snap judgments. Just order them a different one and eat the pungent fish sauce yourself.
